Signed kiosk builds, changelogs, and field-install docs for the in-room TV platform.
Everything a field installer needs to put TripGZio on a hotel-room TV — download the latest signed launcher, read the version history, check device prerequisites, and pull the full onboarding + recovery docs. Start with the onboarding guide if this is your first TV.
Android TV / Google TV — Live
The in-room TV app. Install it as a Managed TV, as the TV’s Home screen, or as an
App only — see Installation modes. Signed with the production certificate
0c9b7820… — every TV must stay on this one signature (a different one can’t update in place, and
on a Managed TV it forces a re-provision).
api.tripgzio.com when apps.tripgzio.com won't resolve, and again in 30 minutes instead of 6 hours.tv/stable.json, verifies size, sha256, package, version and signing certificate, then installs silently as device owner. Install window, idle check, rollout percentage and pause switch.clearDeviceOwnerApp
path (avoids FRP), double-PIN confirm. First remote-only un-own for a release-signed TV.adb install -r -d.listInstalledApps, generalized launchApp), openSettings.wm density 160 provisioning. First build hosted here.Prerequisites — Android TV / Google TV
The UI is Next.js 16 + React 19 + Tailwind v4 — it needs a modern rendering engine. On anything older the app shows only the logo on a black screen (the app is fine; the engine is too old).
| Requirement | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Android version | App installs on Android 7+ | The Managed TV setup wizard needs Android 9+. The screens need a modern WebView (next row), so a genuine Android 11+ is the practical floor. Beware boxes that spoof “Android 14”. |
| WebView / Chrome engine | 111+ | The app renders inside Android System WebView — update it via Play Store. Standalone Chrome is irrelevant on Google TV. |
| Security patch date | 2023 or newer | #1 fake-detector. An old patch date (e.g. “Mar 2019”) = old/counterfeit device regardless of the version string. |
| RAM | 2 GB min | 2 GB works; 3–4 GB recommended if guests stream 4K OTT alongside the UI. |
| Network | ≥ 5 Mbps / TV | UI itself is light. Budget 15–25 Mbps per TV for 4K OTT. Ethernet preferred for fixed installs. |
| Outbound ports | 443 (+80 redirect) | Allowlist *.tripgzio.com on locked-down hotel firewalls (tv / api / dashboard). |
| For Managed TV | Factory-fresh | No Google accounts and no existing device owner, or dpm set-device-owner refuses. Home screen and App only have no such rule. |
Installation modes
From a locked kiosk to no change at all. Nothing is forced: the app never makes itself the device owner, the home screen (unless it is the only home app the TV has) or a background service on its own. Staff choose on the TV (the one-time Choose how this TV runs card) and can change Home screen or App only later from the staff menu → TV mode. Managed TV needs a factory-reset TV.
For: hotel rooms, where the TV must always come back to TripGZio and staff run it from the dashboard.
You get: a locked in-room kiosk — guests can’t leave except with the staff PIN — and full dashboard control: reload, reboot, silent updates, TV settings, checkout clean-up.
Needs: a TV you can factory-reset, with no Google account on it, on Android 9 or newer. About 5 minutes with the remote and a pendrive; no PC.
How to install:
For: a TV you can’t factory-reset where you still want TripGZio to be what Home shows — pilots, lobby TVs.
You get: TripGZio is the TV’s home screen; the Home and Back buttons return to it. Nothing is locked: guests can still leave to other apps and settings. Health reports and dashboard commands work only while the app is running; locking, remote policy and silent updates need a Managed TV. Self-update shows Android’s install prompt, which someone at the remote confirms.
Needs: no reset and no account rules. Android 7 or newer.
How to install:
adb install). For: pilots, demos, bring-your-own sticks — any TV you don’t want to change.
You get: TripGZio installs like any app and opens from the TV’s app list. It changes nothing: it doesn’t open by itself, take over Home or lock anything. Health reports and dashboard commands work only while the app is running. Self-update shows Android’s install prompt, which someone at the remote confirms.
Needs: only a TV that can install the APK. Android 7 or newer; no reset, no PIN.
How to install:
adb install).Windows 10 / 11 — Live
The hotel dashboard (dashboard.tripgzio.com) as a desktop app for front-desk PCs:
its own window, Start-menu and desktop shortcut, and it stays signed in. It installs for the current Windows
user, so no admin rights are needed. Dashboard updates reach it automatically.
Samsung TVs run Tizen, not Android — an APK won’t sideload. Planned path: package the web UI as a Tizen app (Tizen Studio + Samsung dev cert + TV Developer Mode), or the Samsung Hospitality (LYNK Cloud) route for hotel TVs.
Genuine HDMI Android stick behind the Samsung TV — works today with the Android build.
Older Samsung TVs carry older web engines — the same Chrome 111+ floor applies.
webOS uses its own web-app packaging (IPK via the webOS SDK). Planned as a hosted web-app wrapper. Interim: HDMI Android stick.
HDMI Android stick behind the LG TV — deploy with the Android build today.
webOS Pro / Pro:Centric hospitality path for LG hotel TVs.
Fire OS is Android-based, so the APK can often sideload (Fire OS 7+ ≈ Android 9/10). Dedicated Fire TV testing + a device-owner story are pending — until certified, use the Android TV build on Fire hardware at your own risk.
Sideload the Android APK; validate WebView engine ≥111 and lock-task support.
Fire OS restricts some device-owner APIs — full kiosk parity is unverified.
For digital-signage boxes and Chromebox players: a kiosk
Chromium profile pointed at tv.tripgzio.com. No APK — a browser-kiosk config bundle is planned.
Chromium --kiosk + autostart unit; hardware watchdog for reload.
Best for lobby / signage screens, not per-room guest control.
